Bans are not given lightly and are discussed within the team before a decision is made. Bans are instant for aliasing with no recourse.
General Posting Rules
1. Abusive Posts
1.a: Flaming: Since AusBattlefield is a free service and is also a place where you can escape a lot of moderation there will be bound to be flaming and flaming is OK within reason. AusBF Admins reserve the right to make judgement calls on what is considered too much and will remove posts, warn users or ban users based on the circumstances. Posting on behalf of banned members as it was on the old site is still a bannable offense
1.b: Personal Comments/Jokes Personal jokes are allowed and are what makes this community grow stronger but remember if you dish it out as a joke expect to receive it. Any jokes that you consider have gone too far, please do not reply to them, contact an Admin or Moderator and state your case, we will resolve the issue with the other member. Please consider other methods of communication besides the forum ie. PM, IRC, Chat clients before airing 'dirty laundry'. Also Refer to Flaming and Personal Attacks. 1.c: Clan Bashing Clan Bashing is not allowed on AusBF. Any posts that are deemed to incite any form of Clan Bashing will be removed immediately upon request. Threads/posts that encourage users to take sides or make comments, without evidence, will be moderated. Also Refer to Flaming.
1.d: Personal Attacks Personal attacks are not allowed and are not healthy for the community to see or read. Again, please consider other methods of communication besides the forum ie. PM, IRC, Chat clients. AusBF Forums are here for gamers who wish to talk about the game and other things that closely or loosely relate to it. Also Refer to Flaming.
2. Spam Posts/Threads & Creating Poll Threads
2.a: Spam Posts - Spam is something that is not completely frowned on the AusBattlefield forums because there is a broad range of different types of posts people like to define as spam. The clear definition for these forums is; USELESS POSTS THAT ARE OFTEN MADE TO RAISE POST COUNT. However if an Admin or Moderator finds that the post was completely off-topic and was used to de-rail, then they have the right to delete the post to keep the thread on topic. Also any threads that have no basis and are there just so people can post to raise their count will be locked and their warn level will be raised plus a warning PM sent to them.
2.b: Creating Poll Threads - Polls can be created and are encouraged, they will allowed to take place and dont necessarily have to be game related. They can be about anything however see these rules before make a poll thread 2.a Spam Posts, 1.a Flaming and 1.d Personal Attacks. If a poll is made breaking these rules then the Admin or Moderators have the right to lock and/or delete the thread.
2.c: Unrelated Threads - Any threads that are made with no relevance to the current forum but dont break any of the rules will be either moved to a forum more relating to it by a Moderator or Admin or it may be left there. If however posts that follow it are always breaking the rules then the thread will be locked and/or deleted.
3. Signatures
3a: Amount of signatures allowed - You are permitted the use of 1 normal sized sig on AusBF. Normal sized being around a 500px by 135px sized picture. Users are also permitted to use userbars in their signatures. The maximum number of userbars allowed are 3. Standard userbar size is 350px by 19px. Users can use one of the other, users are not permitted to have a normal sig as well as 3 userbars. If any of these rules are breached the offender will automatically lose their right to use a signature for a designated time.
3b. Colours and size of text in signatures - Text in signatures on AusBF is to remain standard text. That means, under no circumstances, are users to change the colour and size of the text. By doing this the user will lose their right to the use of a signature for a designated time.
4. Spam And Off Topic Posts While we are not aiming to be as restrictive as other gaming sites, we would like to keep Ausbf running smoothly and cleanly. In keeping with this state of mind we are going to be moderating topics in order to minimise the amount of derailments and off-topic posts. If a post is edited you may not re-edit it, in keeping with current policy this will incur a 48hr ban. By all means PM an admin if you think you or your post has been unfairly dealt with or for a clearer image of why your post was modified. At the end of the day this is to keep your threads running smoothly and to help with the growth and stability of the site.
New look, New Rules
So everyone is 110% clear, with the newly organised forums comes a slight change in the moderation rules.
As you can see in the comments of Rantopia & Spamville, there is a note about moderation. It's reasonably clear, but what about the other forums?
This is basically it in a nutshell: On topic and no spam, highly moderated, unacceptable posts moved to Rantopia or Spamville or edited/deleted.
However, by highly moderated, we mean how it is pretty much now. We will probably end up just moving the odd thread here and there, but that's about as far as we will go about it.
As usual, PM ANY complaints about anything to the Administrators.
Thankyou for your co-operation, from the AusBattlefields Team. |
