Creative Fatal1ty 1010 Mouse

I was handed one of these for review the other week and I was a little unsure at first. Hell, look at it!

But hey, looks are extremely decieving.

I haven't used a mouse this comfortable in a very long time. I have got smallish hands, yet my dad who has "chubby" hands still really liked using this mouse. It advertises saying that it has a button for each finger, which I thought was a bit of marketing hype that didn't actually work, but it actually did! It has the standard left + right click, the scroll wheel click, then a click on your thumb, but here comes the confusion; A CLICK ON YOUR "RING" FINGER! So the pinky is left out, but it rests really comfortably on the outside of the mouse so it is ok.

The best thing about having four useable click buttons is that they are all completely customiseable. The mouse comes with some good easy to use software and if you follow the instructions out of the box correctly, they work like a charm. You can really tweak this mouse a lot, with the option to literally change each button to do ANYTHING (you can make the standard left button to be spacebar, escape, any F* button, or even open My Computer!!!).

It also comes with the almost "standard" feature now of CPI changer on the fly, only downside is from what I can gather, you can only change between 800 to 1600 on the fly, but you can go down to 400 via the software. I found it to be a little jittery, but I might just be a noob.

Another thing to tweak this mouse further is the weight adaptors. I personally stayed with the 11g, but it also comes with 26g and 3.5g, so it's fairly customisable to suit whatever your doing.

I found the Creative Fatal1ty 1010 mouse extremely pleasureable to use, but also different. I've primarily used ergonomic peripherals in the past, so going to a "gaming" mouse was a bit of a change and took some time getting used to, but I really enjoyed it. With RRP being $55, it feels like this mouse would cost more. This would be on the top of the list of things to buy if I was buying a new mouse.

The Fatal1ty range of custom gamer hardware is currently avaliable from Altech to PC and hardware suppliers; contact Altech for more information
