Genius Ergo 525 Mouse
Thanks to Altech Computers, I recently was given Genius mouse to try out. Genius is a brand known for being a stock standard peripheral maker, just nothing flash, but good sturdy products. This mouse changed my perception on them in a positive way!
The Genius Ergo 525 is a mouse that can be used for a range of things. I tried it out with gaming and standard PC use. It has plenty of buttons (7), all of which can be completely changed and customised via the software that comes with it, it looks decent and comes with a nice little mousemat to boot!
The software is easy to use and of course installs the must-have drivers. Without installing the drivers, it doesn't let you use the extra thumb-buttons, which is a bit of a pain, but takes a whole of 2 minutes to install. While the colour of the programs background isn't pleasant, the use of it is.

When I was using this mouse, I was directly comparing it to a Razer Deathadder (my other mouse I own). I personally like my mice to be a little bit "bulky" in the sense that I want to know that I am actually holding something, not just flicking a bit of plastic across my desk. The Genius Ergo 525 lets me know I am holding something worth its weight, however it isn't overly heavy. On the downside, it doesn't have customiseable weights, but it isn't exactly aimed at a full time pro-gamer market, moreso the casual gamer & "media center"-esque type user.
The things I enjoyed most about this mouse is that my smallish hands fit extremely well into the grooves, but when someone with much larger / chubbier fingers held it, they also felt comfortable using it. The downside to it being ergonomic is that of course it is only designed for right hand use, but I am right handed, so it was great!!!

Being more of a gamer then a standard PC user, I felt as though I wasn't suited completely at this mouse, but for general work use it is fantastic. I honestly could comfortably use this for 8-9 hours behind the desk a day and not feel annoyed with the standard $2 desk mouse most people get stuck with. Not to mention that the mousemat is does come with is a nice sized "quick steel" pad that will suit any work environment.
So I believe that the Genius Ergo 525 is a great mouse, however doesn't jump out at me like a Deathadder or a Cybersnipa Stinger for gaming use. I would overly recommend this mouse to anybody who wants something nicely sized to use for everyday use and for the casual game. With an RRP of $66, it isn't that bad of a price either
